Best drinking for the Abbey Cocktail

It depends on where you sit with this one. But it is a brunch or boozy lunch type of drink, a perfect left turn from drinks like the Mimosas or corpse revivers.  Honestly it’s daytime drink as a preference.

What’s in an Abbey Cocktail

It’s a simple but very elegant cocktail to make.  With gin as above make sure it’s a smooth and soft gin with mellow botanicals.   If you go too hard you will ruin the orange flavours.

Gin

As we try new things. We have a few gins in our bar.  So for the Abbey, it was made with a Hendricks gin. The Hendricks gin is infused with Rose and cucumber. Which gives it a really interesting flavor.

Lillet Blanc

Lillet is an aperitif wine.  Best served chilled at 6- 8 oC or 43 – 46 oF

Angostura Bitters

Has been around since 1824, and found prominence in the 1870s when it became an integral ingredient in cocktails and food.

Ice

You can not go wrong with ice. The preference is ice cubes.  We like that big cubes.

Which glass do I use?

A cocktail glass is fine for the Abbey.  However, we picked up a set of 4 stemless Martini Glasses.  We love these glasses that are a nice twist on tradition.  They are casual yet elegant.  It’s a modern twist on an old classic.

How to Make a Abbey Cocktail

It’s a simple cocktail to make, just pour ingredients into a cocktail shaker containing several ice cubes.  Just don’t forget the Garnish.  A cherry will set it off nicely, and it looks impressive.
